Our Experience
Scholie Guziak established Benefits Network Group, Inc. in 1996 as the sole owner and the President. Her history of providing insurance and financial solutions began in 1990 as an Account Manager with the Acacia Financial Center of MD and an Investment Advisory Associate of The Advisors Group. In 1991, one year later, she earned the Leading New Account Manager Award for achieving the highest level of production. During her tenure she was instrumental in the establishment of Aurora Network Planners, Inc. as an additional revenue producing activity specific to the MD Financial Center with a focus on group benefits. At Acacia, she gained experience in financial planning with the benefit of a team process and review of every plan before implementation. She left Acacia to start Benefits Network Group, Inc.
In 2000, she served as President of the Suburban MD Life Underwriters Association (SMLUA) which was later merged into the current association, NAIFA-Greater Washington DC. She has been actively involved since joining in 1993 and served on the board for 7 of those years. In 2005 she seved as a member of the NAIFA National Convention Host Committee. Since 2007, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Washington Foundation of Insurance and Financial Advisors (GWFIFA). The Foundation is the charitable arm, a 501 (C)(3) non-profit entity of NAIFA-GWDC. She is a member of the Greater Washington Association of Health Underwriters (GWAHU) and has consistently qualified for the Leading Producers Round Table including the Golden Eagle Award (the highest level of recognized production) as well as the LPRT Soaring Eagle Award (2012). In 2009, she completed the Advanced Charter Benefit Consultant (ACBC) master-level designation course in Consumer Driven High Deductible Health Care with the National Association of Alternative Benefit Consultants.
Prior to her current career, Scholie was the Personnel Manager for Integrated Microcomputer Systems, Inc. (500 employees) for 6 years and Personnel Director and Security Supervisor under the Department of Defense Industrial Security Program for Ocean Data Systems, Inc. (200 employees) with offices in MD, CA, NY, and SC for 10 years. She was a member of the the Washington Technical Personnel Forum (I-270 Corridor Association for Human Resource Professionals with Hi-Tech companies). In 1991, she served as Chairman of the Board for Transcen, Inc., a nationally recognized nonprofit organization headquartered in Rockville, MD with a focus on the transition of disabled youths from school to work. Throughout her human resource career and insurance related business, she has spoken and participated in such activities as a speaker on disability awareness at The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce on disability employment (1988), speaker for Governor Schaefer's Chief Executuive Officers' Council meeting on creating opportunities for disabled workers (1989), participation in Congressman Albert Wynn's Small Business Advisory Group for the 4th Congressional District of MD (2007), a featured speaker at the Women In Business Conference and Trade Show on Creative Employee Benefits (2007) as well as conducting workshops on financial planning for employees of corporate clients and other related presentations over the years.
Scholie has been able to combine her experience in human resources with her current insurance knowledge to assist her corporate clients in meeting their benefit needs. Benefits Network Group, Inc. has established relationships with other professionals on a referral basis as needed to complete your program, including third party administrators, accountants, and attorneys.
